Description

Originating from the Shadowfell, as all Shadar Kai do, Xaveria's eyes are not meant for the bright sunlight of the material plane. As such, she has no iris or white in her eyes; instead, they are each one shade of solid black, and her long hair is stark white. The scars that seem to run in swirls all over her body are only slightly darker than the rest of her bluish-gray skin. Despite her somewhat alarming appearance, Xaveria is all positivity. Others are frequently surprised by her animated demeanor, as it is in shocking contrast with the reserved personality that is so common among her kind. She has the rare ability to find the fun in all of the challenges that life throws at her, and lives with a zeal that others typically find either charming or irritating.

Backstory

In the first few years of her reincarnation, Xaveria had a horrible nightmare; or was it something more? During her evening meditations, she saw a vision of her world decimated by what could have only been some massive beast. All of the buildings were destroyed, and there were giant claw marks in the dirt. Bodies were scattered everywhere, many of them only partially intact. Ever since this dreadful vision, Xaveria has seen invisible "friends" that follow her everywhere she goes. They talk with her, and occasionally warn her of imminent danger. Nobody else has ever been able to see or feel her friends, but they look and feel perfectly material to her. She also hears voices that occasionally speak directly in her head. In an attempt to prepare for what she believes can only be an upcoming apocalypse, Xaveria sought the counsel of the deity of the shadowfell; the ever-elusive Raven Queen. After a few years of training, she took the Oath of the Watchers, pledging to protect the Material Plane from any threats that may come its way. She does not know if she will ever be able to defeat the beast that caused the destruction in her vision, but only hopes that she may be able to save a few lives when the inevitable happens. After her oath, Xaveria left the Shadowfell for the Material Plane, where she traveled around the continent of Hadea, learning new fighting styles and training with the warriors of each nation. She took on odd jobs to get by, sometimes performing manual labor and sometimes working as a mercenary for hire. These experiences made her a formidable opponent, and the Raven Queen rewarded her abilities with the gift of magic. In return, she often seeks out memories, experiences, and small trinkets that she can offer as a gift to her patron.

Relationships

Row

Row is the nickname that Xaveria gave to the raven that visited her on her first night in prison. She chose this name due to a single blue feather that falls vertically from Row's eye, which reminded her of a teardrop. She immediately named her the Raven of Weeping, which eventually got shortened to Row. Xaveria believes that Row was a gift sent to her by the Raven Queen, and that her deity may even communicate to her through Row. Row is highly intelligent and often steals small items of entertainment for Xaveria, which made the long nights of her imprisonment much more bearable. Xaveria loves Row and considers her a familiar and a friend.

Dreamer

Dreamer is one of Xaveria's oldest friends, whom she met after being arrested for arson. They have traveled much of the continent together and have covered each other's backs in many battles. Though they don't always see eye-to-eye, Xav and Dreamer share a bond that can only be formed in the fog of battle. She is particularly fond of Dreamer's spirit cat, Casper.

Calliope

Xaveria and Calliope fell in love while traveling through the Shadowfell in search of the missing Raven Queen, where she learned that they were married in her past life. Calliope spent 70 years trying to find Xaveria's reincarnation after her death, only to stumble upon her unexpectedly while investigating a burning building.

Religion and Beliefs

As all Shadar Kai do, Xaveria worships the Raven Queen. She took the Oath of the Watchers in order to become one of the Raven Queen's mighty warriors.
