Biography
Being a Turinth Blackbird, Pepper has several features that make him unique. Turinth Blackbirds are able to enter and leave the feywild at will, allowing them to travel through time in a way that makes them seem nearly immortal. In addition to that skill, Pepper can use his antennae to detect and sooth unwelcome emotions. He primarily uses the ability when presented with anger, sorrow, or fear, which made him a primarily good companion to Xaveria's previous life by assisting her management of the spirits of her team. Pepper is curious by nature, oftentimes intruding on conversations that have no involvement with him and not respecting personal space very well- a trait that comes with landing on his allies with sharp talons and little awareness for his massive size when compared to smaller birds such as Row.
Pepper has sought out Xaveria in many of her incarnations, having been her first life's companion animal. Since he is able to manipulate time, he is very capable of living an incredibly long time, meaning his companionship with Xaveria goes back millenia.
Relationships
Xaveria
Pepper was incredibly easy for Xaveria to capture in the feywild, since he wanted to join her and her team as he does in most of her lives. Pepper shows Xaveria the amount of emotional intelligence of a loyal dog and enjoys being spoken to.
The Shadow Prophets
Pepper enjoys companionship, and sees the group as his flock in spite of not knowing them for long. He is social, and will hold, albeit mostly one sided, conversations with whoever feels inclined to speak with him. He saw the group in distress during the battle with Therron Rithe, and was able to stabilize enough of them that they were able to secure victory.
Calliope and Azazel
Pepper is a natural nullifier against emotional volatility, meaning that Calliope is typically in better mental state when Pepper is nearby. Demonic outbursts become uncommon due to his soothing nature affecting both Calliope and Azazel. As such, Calliope tolerates Pepper's presence, even if she finds his personality too nosy.
