Nero

Nero Amon
Alive
Changeling
Sorceror - Clockwork Soul

Description

As is common with most of their kind, Nero's appearance is never garunteed. Changeling's appear as they choose to appear, but comparatively, Nero is more often than not found keeping their own appearance. All changeling's have white hair, white skin, and piercing white eyes, but what makes Nero unique are their horns and single iris in the shape of a ticking clock. However, Nero isn't exactly one-of-a-kind in their appearance, being the twin sibling to Slenderbard, one of the famed Protectors of The Waking World. Much like their sibling, Nero fancies proper noble clothing, trying to maintain a respectable appearance, even outside of their home plane. They dress in the ornate robes of a spellcaster, with long sleeves to cover old scars from their years prior to joining up with the party.

Backstory

Nero was born to a wealthy family in the feywild alongside their twin sibling, Slenderbard. When the two were very young, they encountered a fey beast in the woods that they had been playing in. The beast attacks, nearly taking Nero's life, but as all hope seemed lost, Nero channeled a burst of innate magical energy. With Slender's aid, the two are able to keep the beast at bay until it finally retreats into the woods. Returning home from this close encounter, Nero's parents were thrilled to learn of their child's chronomancy. They sought ways to nurture this magical ability, all the while neglecting their other child. Slender felt he would never gain their approval, making him miserable and envious of the power that Nero channeled so naturally. After years of their parents spoiling Nero, Slender vanished into the night, running away from home. This left a rift in the family that wouldn't heal, and Nero felt the most abandoned. Slender was their closest friend and protector, and now Nero was alone with no idea of where their sibling fled to. Nero bided their time, training to become stronger until they were of age to leave home and find Slender. They endlessly searched the Feywild, but danger lurked around every corner. Nero was captured by thugs who saw value in their transformation abilities and sold them as a slave. They toiled endlessly, only finding relief when they were smuggled out of the Feywild and onto the Material Plane through The Gate. Distracted by the festivities at the Moondance Festival, Nero's captors were oblivious as they made their escape. With the use of their magic, they fled fast and far, finally free of their torment, but also, alone again. Echoes of their trauma haunted Nero, and with no one to talk to, they felt completely isolated in a world that they didn't understand. They searched for an altar, and found one of the time-lost god, Kronos, and prayed. Of course, these prayers went unanswered- Kronos was gone and his altar abandoned. Desolate and angry, Nero took up and blade and laid down on the altar, ready to sacrifice themself. As they readied the blade, they heard a voice call out in their mind "stop!" The voice introduced himself in a vision. Before them rested a large navy dragon sitting upon the ticking mechanisms of a clock. The dragon told them his name was Horace. Horace was a dragon type thought of only as a myth- a time dragon. Having not heard prayers since he began his ascension, Horace was fascinated by Nero. As a chronomancer, Nero's strength could fuel Horace's dominion over the power of time, and in return, he took care of them, seeing them as not only a disciple, but as a friend. Nero learned draconic, but more importantly, they learned a clue. As Horace spoke of the draconic pantheon, he granted visions to Nero. One of them came as quite the shock. Standing in front of the dragon god, Bahamut, was a mirror image of Nero. Slender was alive, and he had established a home for himself in the dragon god's nest. Armed with this new knowledge, Nero set out again, knowing that they could find their sibling and reunite their family. However, Horace warned them of danger on this path, as all was not well with the other members of the pantheon. He begged Nero to find allies, and most of all, tread very carefully and be wary of who they could trust.

Relationships

Slender

The last time Nero saw Slender, he fled from home after being upset by the favoritism that Nero was shown by their parents. Nero will do anything to find their brother, and have been searching the continent for them.
