Scyllus’s true origin is that of disgrace and sacrifice. In his home city of Quera he was born to 2 parents, miniscule shrimpfolk, being in a world primarily composed of complex and unique fish life, of varying strengths, he was always frustrated to be of the weaker lifeforms. Scyllus’s parents (Yina Festo and Stowa Festo) were cleaner shrimp, and given their massive clutch of children, Scyllus quickly fell to a downward view of himself and his family, feeling ashamed of his so called “predestined fate”, he abandoned his last name and left home, searching for a new life to live, where he can prove himself worthy.
Scyllus then finds himself in a neighboring underwater city Thenoch, known for its warriors and combat tribes, littered with powerful sea creatures. “Scyllus the pathetic shrimp”, as called by the other crustaceans, after the constant berration and waste of his time in trying to enhance his physical strength through training at a monastery in the city, he eventually recluses to an underwater cave. Scyllus felt ashamed to be so weak, so unable to prove himself worthy of greatness, and as such, he would seek out ways to artificially enhance his strength, the smithies of the city would refuse to help such a weak shrimp. Down on his luck, he would turn to the deities of the world in seeking power.
Given the promise of power over foes, and immense physical enhancements, the naive shrimp took the offer immediately, not hearing the god out on their downside of the boon, letting themselves be taken under the influence of said god and transforming rather painfully as their body grows 3 times its normal size, their puny weight changing as their body grows into a sheer 500lb monstrosity of chitinous mass. This transformation allows Scyllus to enter the monastery and run through the ranks with flying colors, beating all of his opponents in hand to hand combat, many of the combatants were skeptical of Scyllus’s newfound gains and with it being so sudden, many suspected some form of enhancement.
Regardless of their thoughts, Scyllus was living his best life in succeeding with combat. All he did was pick fights and work his body in ways that strained himself but increased his strength, “All I needed was a head start!” he’d say. But one fateful day, his “reputation” would eventually shift in the entire underwater kingdom. During a sparring match within the monastery, he would deliver a final blow to an octopus fighter, happily pulling him back up after knocking the octo on their ass, before a ringing noise pierces his head, making him reel back in pain and his eyes gloss over a dark red color. His body would bulk up considerably and as he loses himself, he takes the arm of the octopus and furiously beats them into a pulp, not holding back, and instead letting out a primal rage, one that was tied to the boon he had received. All he had in mind was to shed blood.
He slaughtered many in a blind, frenzied state, wiping out at least 5 of the monks within the monastery, as officials were called, scyllus, under the control of the deity, recognizes the rising pain in his head as he drags his claws about the blood in the water and flees the scene, taking in the blood sacrifice needed to maintain his power.
From that day forth, Scyllus had a bounty on his head, instilled by the city, he would be exiled from the monastery and never seen in the ocean again, as all in the area knew of a simple shrimp, turned monster, and all who ever looked at him would agree the same, that he is a freak of nature, and a threat to any who challenge him. Deep down inside, Scyllus wishes he stayed in his family life, being a simple cleaner, but he knew that it was too late now, all he could do was fake it till he made it, long enough to fall down the path of evil, or to prove himself a hero.
