Olaf Kegbottom

Drunkserker
Alive
Dwarf
Path of the Battlerager Barbarian

Description

Olaf is a relatively large hill dwarf that could be mistaken for a human if not for his bulky stature. He is middled aged, with graying blonde hair and faint wrinkled appearing on his face. He has a scruffy beard and eyebrows, and keeps his hair brushed back out of his face. In spite of his ferocity on the battlefield, Olaf typically has gentle blue eyes that start to gleam red under the influence of his warpick, Talon.

Olaf wears some scarce armor, but all of it is dangerously spiked, making him risky to be anywhere near on the battlefield as he thrashes violently about. Other than that, he wears humble earth tones in his leather and fur gear, and sometimes wears a long cape that he quickly sheds when a battle is approaching. He can often be found wielding Talon, which has the appearance of a red dragon's skull with one missing tooth.

Olaf's appearance has become even more beastly as the campaign has gone on. He became a wereboar after spending a night with Liliana, and has recently mastered the form. The wereboar aspect has added permanent tiny tusks to his human form. When Talon gained power, Olaf's appearance also changed. He has horns, scales, and claws, resembling the draconic nature of the warpick. Additionally, Olaf wears a mask belonging to a eldritch lich named Krosis that grants him resistances, at the cost of hearing endless whispers from the void of space.

Backstory

Olaf Kegbottom was born as a hill dwarf in the city of Khem Dural, home to the famous family of Ironbeards. This noble line earned most of their profits exploiting poorer mining families. One of these families were the Kegbottom's, with Olaf and his father working in the gold mines day and night, pursuing the so called "Dwarf Dream" everyone talked about. They spent years working away, until one day the dwarf regiment corpse suddenly burst into the mines and took his father away under the pretense of catching the traitor to the great Khem Dural city.
Desperately searching for his father's innocence, Olaf started drinking, more than usual, and ended up unleashing some sort of uncontrollable new anger. In spite of his search for innocence, the day of the execution came. His father, the so-called traitor, was decapitated in front of everyone at the town square, while the Ironbeard family watched from their marble thrones. This unleashed a rage in Olaf which couldn't be stopped. He picked up his warhammer and throw it with all his might at the king. The warhammer hit the king's shoulder and crushed it in an instant.
Through his rage came a realization for Olaf: he was about to die gruesomely by the very axe that killed his father. The only way out was to flee the town of Khem Dural with his life so he could fight another day. With his current connections to the local taverns of Khem Dural, Olaf was able to duck into a nearby bar and escape through an undergournd passage. As he fled, he promised to return and right the wrong that was done to him and his family. Traveling across Par'Adeus, he realized he was far from avenging his father and thus drank his sorrows in the local taverns and inn's of the great continent.
