Ashen Cabaret enters a demiplane disguised with illusion magic to look like the feywild. Slender recognizes it, and begins to experience memories of home. Yore dismisses the illusion to see a landscape of black stone below an immense and clear view of the night time stars. Vesk patronizes the group, pretending to be worried that they won’t be able to sift through his memories quickly enough to find him and interrupt his sun-destroying ritual.
The skeletal dragon that Vesk promises Shade and Henry jumps out of the bushes and lets Shade ride on its back. Yore feels a disturbance in the timeline, but shrugs it off as they descend on a group of bandits with three changeling children in the back of their wagon.
Slender distracts them while juno breaks them out, then Slender and Yore create illusions of the kids to trick the guards into leaving. The children lead them back home to their foster mother, Evalyn, and they introduce themselves as Vesk, Nil, and Rega. Shade invites Evalyn to ride on the back of his death dragon.
The scene changes to that of an old tavern with a father and his young daughter both sitting at the counter and drinking ale. The father is annoyed that they have yet to locate the one who would someday steal from him, so he abandons his daughter at the counter. Slender recognizes the girl as Lucienne, and she naturally insults him even as a child for carrying a lute around. He scoffs and plays an awesome song, so she tells him he’s an okay bard.
Yore and Juno head upstairs to eavesdrop when they see Vesk’s preferred human disguise that seems to be missing its vampiric elements. When Yore overhears that he’s on a date with a woman named Circe Radagan, he climbs over the booth to begin questioning them both. Vesk seems confused to see Juno, stating that he wasn’t expecting to see another Radagan in this town. Circe explains that Juno couldn’t be a Radagan and flicks both of her half-elf ears to prove her point.
Nil shows up to change Vesk into a vampire, and when they interrupt her, Yore experiences another headache from things deviating from the proper timeline. She tries to buy the death dragon off of Shade with a handful of orphans, but he refuses the deal then tries to kill the bard that’s furiously playing an instrument to one up Slender.
The scene changes again one final time and Vesk finally greets the group in person. He taunts them all one last time, and Shade swipes a claw at him when he gets too close. The fight begins, and Vesk uses the mutant illithids as a shield to keep himself alive. When both sides of the fight begin to get weak, Shade begs for Vesk to stop fighting and to come with him inside his bag of holding. Coupled with the sorrowful feywild song from Slender, Vesk agrees to it, taking one final bite out of Shade to transform him into a vampire. Yore destroys Vesk in the bag as soon as Shade goes down.
As Vesk dies, Olaf is pulled out of the dimension at the request of The Aeon to aid Lucienne in destroying the town of Asuras. Everyone else escapes the portal, finding a furious and injured Jadeth had been keeping it open for them while the town was destroyed behind her. Olaf regroups with everyone outside the portal, covered with blood and ash from his revenge. Yore departs with Liliana’s body to find Ukko since Lucienne left without him. Everyone else is transported towards Yama’s Light where they were to locate the pure heart for Argos.
The portal leads out into a forest owned by Anthillia Gravestrider called The Deep Green. Juno and Slender notice some blood hawks circling above them, and Slender calls out to them. Jadeth quickly grabs him when she sees what he’s doing, acting even more paranoid than usual. She pulls out the house door and ushers everyone inside.
