After a shopping spree the gang heads to a local bar. There, The Accountant is approached by the devil Dionysos, who cites a love for history as why he’s reaching out. He informs the gang that he’s the devil of euphoria and overwhelming laughter, and that he isn’t even after The Accountant’s soul when he offers protection. He also lets him know that should he never be slain by The Endling, the deal is forfeit. The Accountant refuses, but Dionysos lets him know he’ll stay in touch.
Meanwhile, Nox and Xaveria are getting their flirt on. The royal guard, Octavian Ren gets smashed and tells Nox he’s the prettiest elf he’s ever seen and asks him if he’d like to join him for dinner on the airship. Nox agrees, and Ren runs out of the bar pumping his fist. Xaveria finds another Shadar-Kai woman reading about the Feywild, and the two women agree to grab dinner the next night as well. The Accountant also manages to impress one of the Arch mages from the Vicai triumvirate, so he goes home with her.
Instead of flirting, Dreamer uses his ring to speak with Casper, who is delighted that he and Dreamer now have a proper way to communicate. He informs Dreamer that there is something he needs to show him, and needs help from the other Quori dream spirit he senses nearby. Dreamer also gives the ring to Xaveria who tries to communicate with Row. Row seems largely uninterested in speaking now that she can be fully understood, but tells Xaveria that she was sent by the Raven Queen and cares greatly for Xaveria.
In the night, Dreamer is visited by a figure with gleaming blue eyes that is holding his new mace. The figure warns Dreamer to stay quiet, but Dreamer immediately screams for help. The figure electrocutes Dreamer, then quickly pulls something out of her bag and smashes the mace into it, seemingly disappointed by the result. Xav bursts in, weapon ready, and finds that the figure is the ever illusive guard, Cayden Calloway. Cayden tosses Xaveria the mace and resists both of the spells that Dreamer and Xav cast on her, slipping silently away into the night.
In the morning, the group descends into the crypts that house the mythallar protecting the city from Corrupted and bad weather. They become separated, with Dreamer and Seraphim having an easier time apart than Xaveria and The Accountant. With Dreamer’s aid, Seraphim tackles the crypt’s guardian to the ground and eventually makes it submit to his leadership. Xaveria rushes into the room with the mythallar, and is attacked by a zombie clot that burrowed its way in. She is slain in the fight, but the Accountant defeats the enemies. Dreamer resurrects Xav and learns that his brother and his spirit were down in the crypt.
After escaping the crypt, Xaveria runs off to meet her date, but seemingly gets stood up. The bartender tells her where her date has been staying, so Xaveria makes her way across town. The scene she finds is a bloody and wrecked household with evidence of claw marks, sword marks, and electricity. Xav picks up her date’s body, but Row helps her locate a note detailing her date’s intent to recruit her for Therron Rithe. She abandons the corpse and quickly makes her way back to the airship, now knowing that the group’s target is camped out by The Gate.
