Ashavaran
Always Chaotic

Description

Ashavaran parasites appear in various shapes, typically denoting their class within Eschato society. Parasites grow with the number of souls they consume, which ranges their sizes from tiny to gargantuan. All Ashavaran appear as amalgamous masses of dark pulsing tendrils and red light. Most often, they appear as bipedal humanoids, ranging between 8 to 12 feet tall.

Biography

Ashavaran hail from a fully corrupted planet called Eschato. Ashavaran are made entirely of tendrils of corruption, and can squeeze through small openings before reforming on the other side. They speak telekinetically, and in addition to being able to contaminate their enemies, possess powerful psionic abilities. All Ashavaran have a "true name" and an abbreviated name for ease of speaking to them. True names typically consist of the tasks that the Ashavaran lifeform will carry out, such as "Consume-Alter-Integrate-Nullify" being abbreviated to "Cain." Ashavaran all strive towards something called "The Original Purpose," but what that currently entails is unknown. Notable Parasites:
  • Anum: The parasite belonging to Vesk and then Nil Aternox. Anum's goals were largely unknown, but related to locating and launching the A'Halon-11 spelljammer ship.
  • Cain: A contained specimen that was trapped over 50,000 years ago. Cain promises his allegiance to one that can learn a way to free him, and admits to growing weary of the "Original Purpose."
  • Erd: The parasite belonging to Therron Rithe. Erd prefers to remain hidden, rather than engaging in direct conflict. He cultivates seeds of doubt in his targets, effectively turning them against each other. Erd's main goal was to kill Calliope and unleash Azazel in the Elysian capital city, crippling their empire and allowing an easier domination of the Hadean continent.
  • Turs: The parasite belonging to Azazel. Turs was the first parasite to reach Hadea after an elven oracle named Etheria Dawnsong gained the attention of the comet that hosted many Ashavaran lifeforms. Turs first infected Etheria Dawnsong, then was stolen by her knight, Azazan, in an attempt to save her.

Additional parasites were encountered in session 5: Long Live Vicai, with the most notable of these being the iron dragon, Feraghast.
